In Morocco, the kilim carpet is called Hanbel carpet. Based on the same weaving technique, it comes from the surroundings of Rabat and the Middle Atlas. It is easily recognized by the absence of velvet, a direct consequence of the use of embroidery instead of knotting. In a Moroccan living room, its presence is a symbol of refined decoration and a tribute to the tribe that made it, since the symbols and colors are directly related to the identity of the latter, as for their counterparts in the East.
